Computer Science Principles Trials and Tribulations
Computer Science Principles Trials and Tribulations (and Rewards!) The trials and tribulations of teaching Computer Science Principles for the first time! We will look at various FREE resources available for teaching logic, algorithms, coding, and more! We will discuss ways to make the course fun, have friendly competition, and have students collaborate\help each other. Also a great way to have guest speakers that you might not normally be able to get!

Dive in the Water is Fine
Are you swimming in the deep end with the BIG fish by taking on teaching IDT – Introduction to Digital Technology (Carnegie Unit) to your 8th graders? Grab your suit and I will provide the pool toys and floaties during this session to get you doing more than treading water! After all, summer is the perfect time to learn some new strokes and techniques. If you are not teaching IDT but want some resources and extension projects to add a splash to your teaching, development of projects, and assessment come and join us for this refreshing swim. Whether your element is H20, IDT or BCS…catch the wave!

Flipping Your Classroom: Before, During, and After the Lesson New content have your parents and students baffled? Wish you could teach more, while doing little to no extra prep? In this session you will learn how to use free technology to preview, review, and extend your lesson. These tools will provide you with resources to scaffold and reach each individual learner where they are, beyond the four walls of your classroom.

IBT- Wedding Project
The Mock Wedding Project Do you need a project that gets the whole class involved? Well, why not try the Mock Wedding Project. Every student gets to participate in a traditional wedding. The purpose of this project is to provide a learning experience in leadership and management. Each student will create a company that would be used for an traditional wedding and be a part of the festivities on the mock wedding day.

Position Your Students (Literally) to Have Fun and Learn in Your Classroom Do you want to bring your classroom to life? Learn some immediate ways to bring fun and excitement into your teaching via your students’ creativity and personalities. Students will immediately be engaged and learn the important ideas of the lessons at the same time. They will remember important concepts through stories, skits, and computerized animations. This presentation will give you some tools to help your students make the connection between the business world, current technology, and your classroom. Hook them, then teach them!

Southern Company Information Technology
This presentation will cover use of technology innovation in the electric utility industry, particularly Southern Company (parent of Georgia Power). We will cover overall relevant technology trends and specific technology innovation projects with a look towards the future and the workforce of tomorrow. Examples include 3D printing, Google Glass, training via virtual reality, unmanned aerial vehicles, cyber security, and remote meter data collection and use.

As part of the Teacher Keys Effectiveness System and the Leaders Keys Effectiveness System, student learning objectives (SLOs) are used to determine student growth and the teacher and leader's impact on student learning. The critical components of SLOs will be shared and a CTAE example will be provided.

Come & hear ways to help students understand and apply HR Principles to areas of their lives today as well as consider HR as a career choice from a former corporate HR Senior Manager who is now a Business Education Teacher!

Using EverFi in my Classroom - Middle and High School
EverFi provides educators with engaging, online learning resources in topics such as financial literacy, digital literacy/citizenship, STEM readiness, coding and entrepreneurship. Each course is standards-aligned and free of charge to schools. We had over 50,000 students in Georgia active on an EverFi course this past year. Everyone who attends our presentation will be given login credentials, standards-alignment documents, lesson plans and ongoing technical and curriculum support at no cost. Come learn from fellow educators (Middle and High school level) how they implemented EverFi in their classroom!
